The 2009 Global America US Ambassador is Billye Fietz. A native Texan, Billye spent over 30 years in New Mexico. She is happy to be back in her home state, living on beautiful Lake LBJ in Central Texas
.
Volunteerism has always been a part of Billye's life, from her children's school and sports to organizing the Heart Association fundraising program in Albuquerque. After serving in other capacities, Billye is currently in her second year as President of the South Llano County Republican Women. Some of her other current volunteer activities include:

*Ambassador for Operation Interdependence -
Collects and packs supplies for our troops.

*Llano Memorial Hospice -
Works with promotions and makes handmade cards and
pillows for the Hospice patients.

*OARS - Older Adult Rural Services -
Provides services to seniors in the Hill Country.

* Seton Development Board -
Provides funds to purchase necessary equipment for the
Seton Highland Lakes Health System through
fundraising.

This year has been a special trial for Billye. In November 2008, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and after two surgeries, Billye is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments. She lost her hair, but not her sense of humor. Her latest project is a "Chemo Doll", stuffed with the hair she lost. She plans to get back to making quilts as soon as a few other projects get finished.
