Vicki West
Global America US Lady 2010
The Global America US
Pageant

Vicki is a homemaker and resides in Calabash, N. C. with her husband Danny and their Shi-tzu “Shagger”. Together they have 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren, from 2 to 20 years of age. She enjoys living at the beach, attending SOS (Society of Stranders), shagging, sewing for her grandchildren, attending car show competitions with her husband (with his 64 Ford Fairlane Sport Coupe) and spending time with friends and family.
She first competed in her high school pageant and did not return to competition again until the age of 42. Her goal was to win a state and national title. She accomplished 4 state titles but no national title. The national pageants were always far away and too costly. After moving to the coast, she discovered that a lot of National pageants are held in Myrtle Beach. So at the “young age of 57”, the desire and goal was still there. She decided to enter the Global US and Global America US pageants, where she reached her goal by winning the both titles.
Her passion is raising money for Camp Kemo and attending the auctions that are held twice a year. Camp Kemo is a week long camp for children with cancer and blood related disorders. The cost is $500.00 per child for a week of camp. The camp operates solely on donations. Vicki designs and makes ladies gambler style hats and gives her proceeds to Camp Kemo. She has been doing this for 7 years and is fondly known as “The Hat Lady.” During this time she lost both her Mom and Dad to cancer. She sells her hats now in their memory and to honor them. Vicki donates a hat for each auction and they have sold for as much as $300.00. Thru her hat sales and bidding on items at the auction, she and her husband sent 16 kids to camp last year. She has also participated in the entertainment at the auctions doing her impersonation of “Shania Twain”.
Vicki is also a member of SASS (Sanford Society of Shaggers), her hometown shag club.
She has been chairperson of the shag club’s Make-A-Wish charity fundraiser and through the years, participated in the entertainment as Phyllis Diller, Joe Pope of the Tams, and David Ruffin of the Temptations and Shania Twain. She was asked to do an encore performance of Phyllis Diller two years later at one of the MAW fundraiser’s.
She is honored to be the reigning “Global US Lady 2009” and “Global America US Lady 2009”
Her plans for her reigning year are to promote and inform the public about “Camp Kemo” and spread the word about the funds that are needed to support this worthwhile cause, while at the same time to inspire and encourage ladies her age to go after their dreams and goals, whatever they may be, because they do come true!!!
