Jodie is the thirty-seven year old daughter of Tim Hallman and Faye Ellis, and resides in Granite Falls, NC. She graduated Suma Cum Laude in 2000, earning a Master's degree in counseling from Appalachian State University. She is a school counselor at Dudley Shoals Elementary School.
She began competing in pageants a year and a half ago, and is excited to be part of the Global America family.
Jodie's pageant credits include winning Overall Talent at the North Carolina Tarheel pageant in 2008, winning the title of Ultimate Supreme Elite Miss American Pride, and capturing the Grand Most Beautiful Elite Miss North Carolina Crown. In addition, she won the title of Ms. Carolina Piedmont in 2008, and was recently crowned the 2009 Carolina Piedmont Ambassador.
Jodie enjoys contemporary clogging and is a member of the SIMS Country Cloggers Adult Competition Team. She won first place in contemporary clogging solos at the Magic Feet Ultimate Challenge, and placed second at the America's Clogging Hall of Fame Championships in traditional clogging. In addition to winning many other clogging awards, she has performed at Tweetsie Railroad, Walt Disney World, and the Dixie Stampede. She especially enjoys clogging at area nursing homes, and visiting the residents, and in the opening cermonies for Special Olympics.
When she can, Jodie makes appearances at pageants, school board, and community meetings promoting her platform: School Violence and Bullying: How You Make a Difference. Through this platform, she encourages citizens to get involved in their local schools by mentoring students who bully, as well as students who are often victimized. The ultimate goal is to have a mentoring program in place in every school in the nation.
Jodie also works closely with Special Olympics, and founded "Recycling Recognition," a program that collects donated trophies for Special Olympics. To date, this project has collected over 1,000 trophies.
Her future plans include directing her own Talent Pageant, which will encourage women and young ladies to use their God-given talents in service to others.
In her spare time, Jodie enjoys Hip-Hop dancing, Yoga, traveling, the beach, and spending time with friends and family. Jodie would like to thank God for His many blessings, and for allowing her this opportunity.
